Riley watched Carter and wondered what she could possibly be thinking of. He shrugged it off and put his hand on his chin and stroked it slowly as he let out of small laugh. Riley was a bit.. awkward, you could say. It wasn’t usually a problem for him, or at least he thought it wasn’t. He kind of liked being awkward and weird unlike most of the other guys in town. He let his hand fall down to his side and shrugged a bit at her suggestions. “Well, since we don’t really know each other that well..” He said and trailed off, looking down a bit. Riley didn’t like opening up to people and getting personal. It’s not like anything was wrong or tragic about his life, he just never knew how to open up. It’s almost as if he was embarrassed to tell people about himself. He shook his head and snapped out of his thoughts as he smiled at Carter. ” uhm, we could go to your room and watch a movie, and learn some things about each other.” He suggested and bit his lip as he tilted his head to the side a bit keeping his eyes on her. “How does that sound?” He asked softly and chuckled under his breath, getting that anxious feeling in his stomach again.

Carter could sense that Riley was a bit…nervous about hanging out with her. She hoped it was just the situation that was making him wary, not something she did. Most of the time, she was bubbly and happy— she never really got nervous around new people. It was a trait she picked up over the years. She’d had to train herself not to show nerves, or fear, or anything like that around new friends. That’s how she tried to push off all the people that bullied her. But that was irrelevant. She highly doubted that Riley was going to be mean to her or something. “Well, that sounds great to me,” she said with a smile, turning to lead them up the steps and towards her room. “You can pick any movie you’d like,” she added on, pointing towards the shelf with her movies on it. Carter had no problem with getting to know each other and watching a movie, but she wasn’t really sure how the first part would go. There wasn’t much she could talk about herself without pointing out her past, and, most recently, her couple months in the treatment center.

As Riley pulled his hand away from the door after knocking three times, he slipped his hands into his back pockets and leaned against the side of the door as he waited for her to answer. His head snapped up, a little too fast when he heard a voice saying “I’ll get it” coming from the house. He stood up straight again and bit his lip, getting a little anxious as he waited. When he saw Carter and heard her voice, he knew she was the one he’d heard a few seconds ago. “Hello.” He said softly and smiled at her, walking in as she moved to the side. “Wow, nice place ya got here, Carter.” He whispered as he looked around in awe. He pulled his hands out of his back pockets and nodded at her, following her as she asked with her motion. He kept a small smile on his face as he followed and crossed his arms over his chest, looking over at her. “So.. what would you like to do today?” He asked and smiled at her, laughing a little as he continued to follow her through her house.

Carter rarely had people over, for more than one reason. Most of the time she hated being cooped up in her house, and as much as she loved her parents, they had a tendency to be a little…protective. She couldn’t really blame them for that one though. Ever since she’d gotten out of the treatment center, they’d been a hundred percent more careful with her. She appreciated it, but she also needed a little breathing room. That was besides the point though— she was here with a sweet guy and they could just hang out and have a fun night together. But maybe she’d forgotten one thing. Her house was pretty boring. They had a tv and some gaming systems but that was basically it. Carter wondered what Riley was into doing. They hadn’t spoken much before they agreed to hang out, so she’d just have to wing it. “Anything really,” she said with a smile, stopping and leaning back against the frame by the steps. “We could watch some movies, or go upstairs or hang out in the back. You name it.”

Riley grabbed his car keys from the kitchen table before his Mom stopped him. She had been home the entire day for once. “Where are you going?” She asked. He sighed quietly and scratched his head, looking at her. “I’m going over to Carter’s for a little bit, just to hang out.” He said as he took a few steps back. “Oh alright then.” He heard her say before he turned around and headed towards the door. He was glad that she didn’t ask to spend time together because he’d rather hang out at Carter’s today, he just wasn’t up for a mom and Riley day. He opened his car door and got in it, taking a deep breath. It’s not that he’s shy or anything, but he’s not so much of a ladies man. Talking to girls can be awkward for him sometimes, but they usually laugh at the things he says. He started his car and backed out of the driveway, making his way to Carter’s house. He lived in a small part of town, and Carter wasn’t too far so he had no problem getting there. He parked on the side of her house and climbed out, closing his car door behind him. There was no need to put his alarm on it though. He made his way toward her house, slowly walking up the steps. He took a deep breath and knocked on her door and took a step back.

Carter hadn’t done much for the past couple of days. The only things she had really done were hang out around her house, dance, and sleep. Simply, she hadn’t been productive at all. Bounding down the steps, she greeted her mom with a smile, telling both her parents that she was going to have a friend over. Well, not really a friend. But the two of them would probably be friends by the end of the night. Riley seemed nice enough and Carter was happy to get to know him. She’d always loved making new friends, and considering she wasn’t super close with anyone here besides Savy and Mason, it was time she did that. She wasn’t sure when the boy would arrive, so she went back into her room, making sure that there wasn’t too big of a mess for when he got there.

Hearing the slight knock on her door a few minutes later, the girl made her way back downstairs, calling over her shoulder, “I’ll get it!” Pushing her long hair out of her face, Carter plastered on a smile as she opened the door. “Hi,” she said, happily, stepping back to allow Riley to step into the house and closing the door behind him. “Welcome to my home,” she said with a slight laugh, gesturing for him to walk in with her.

I have no idea, haha. I’ve been home all day, there was nothing to do out so I stayed in. Maybe we could hang out, get to know each other better and be friends yeah? Just in case this happens again.

I slept the whole day and when I woke up everyone was gone. Whoops, haha. Sure! That sounds great to me.
